Water Supply Line For Wash Machine Has Slow Leak Behind Drywall Causes Mold Damage
This Oconomowoc, Wisconsin home experienced significant mold damage that went undiscovered for an undetermined amount of time because the slow leak was behind the drywall so the home owners never saw it. It wasn't until they could smell mold that they knew there might be an issue.
The owners called the water restoration technicians at SERVPRO of Jefferson County/Oconomowoc to do the water mitigation and mold remediation. The home owners also wanted the repairs to be coordinated by SERVPRO.
Once the flooring was removed, it was discovered how severely damaged the subfloor was. This subfloor had to be removed and replaced before any other demolition and mold mitigation services were performed.
In this first photo, you will see that the subfloor was removed but it was removed by just breaking it off by hand, without any hand tools. That is not good. You will also notice that there is still black growth on the drywall.
In the second photo the new subfloor has been installed and any growth that was on the subfloor that was not removed was HEPA vacuumed away and treated with appropriate chemicals and sprayed with an anti-microbial. Now that the floor is safe to walk on, the rest of the contaminated drywall will be removed.
