Wind Storm Damage

Wind storms are common in the Midwest and can cause severe damage to property. They are caused by differences in atmospheric pressure and overhead jetstream winds. Although they can be difficult to predict, there are a few ways to prepare your home and property for a windstorm:

• Remove dead tree branches that may break off and fall on your home during a wind storm. 
• If you know that a wind storm is coming, move garbage cans and patio furniture into the garage and close and secure outdoor pools. 
• If you know that the storm will be severe, board up windows and glass doors to minimize damage from broken glass due to high winds. 
• Always have batteries, a flashlight, a first aid kit and other essentials on hand in case of power loss.
