Asbestos Insulation Found on Mechanicals Room Pipe in Brookfield, WI Commercial Property

This Brookfield, WI business suffered water damage when a water pipe broke flooding the floor.  The water migrated through the floor and into the basement causing the insulation around the pipes to get wet.  This insulation had to be removed but it contained asbestos.  The contractor called SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County to test the insulation.  Once the insulation was proven to contain asbestos, the Wisconsin State Certified Asbestos crew at SERVPRO of SW Waukesha County took the required steps to abate this wet insulation.

Do-it-yourself asbestos removal is not recommended and in some states is not legal.  All building materials are assumed to contain asbestos UNLESS it is wood, metal, glass or fiberglass.  Even though the mining and use of asbestos was banned in the United States, you can still purchase materials from stores that sell imported material from Canada and China.
